Language Assistance & Notice of Availability
If English is not your primary language, or if you have a disability that affects communication, Starlight provides free help so you can understand and take part in your care.
What We Provide, Free of Charge
When you need help communicating with us, we provide the following at no cost to you and in a timely manner:
- Qualified interpreters for spoken languages.
- Qualified sign language interpreters and other auxiliary aids and services for people with disabilities.
- Written materials translated into other languages, where required.
- Spoken (oral) interpretation of written materials.
- Information in accessible or alternate formats, such as large print, audio, or accessible electronic files.
- Other reasonable communication assistance you may need.
How to Request Assistance
Tell any member of our team, or contact us using the information at the bottom of this page. If you can, let us know which language you prefer or what kind of help you need. There is no charge, and we will arrange assistance as promptly as we reasonably can.
Your Rights
- Language and disability assistance is provided free of charge.
- You are not required to provide your own interpreter.
- We do not rely on family members or friends to interpret, and we do not ask a minor child to interpret, except in narrow situations permitted by law — for example, an emergency when no qualified interpreter is immediately available.
- Asking for language or disability assistance will never reduce the quality of your care.
- Retaliation is prohibited. No one will be penalized for requesting assistance or for reporting a concern.
If You Did Not Get the Help You Needed
If you asked for language or disability assistance and did not receive it, please tell us so we can make it right. Ask for the Administrator, or use the contact information below. You may also file a civil rights complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights — you are not required to contact us first. Details are in our Notice of Nondiscrimination.
